After many of the men noticed that Michelle had a bond with fellow Minnesotan Joe Coleman, Jamie told Michelle that several of the contestants were speculating that she had a relationship with Joe before the show. Michelle was devastated that her character was called into question and the episode ended with the men trying to figure out what, exactly, had happened, while Michelle was clearly crushed that people (allegedly) doubted her intentions. While Michelle eventually tried to move on the following week and focus on making connections with the men, the scandal resurfaced. At the cocktail party before the rose ceremony, Rich Leach took the opportunity to tell Michelle that he had never heard anyone question her character, pointing out that the whole thing seemed to come out of nowhere. Michelle then revealed that it was Jamie who had told her that information, and things kind of exploded from there. Several men confronted Jamie about what Michelle said, and he gave some kind of confusing response about how a “character” was created because there were conversations among the men about Michelle and Joe, but couldn’t answer any follow-up questions. When Michelle joined the men, she asked why it felt so tense. Jamie said they were talking about the rumors she had a boyfriend right before the show and then said that he never said anyone in particular questioned her character. Instead, Jamie said, open speculation could have eventually caused people to question Michelle’s character. Michelle then confronted Jamie in front of everyone and said, “You had brought up that one of your friends had mentioned that they saw me in Minnesota walking with a light-skinned dude. It became a thing that it wasn’t and that’s where I’m really struggling.” Cue Michelle taking Jamie aside, telling him she could no longer trust him, and sending him home. People were all about Michelle’s move on Twitter. Jamie went on his Instagram Stories to ask people to be kind and to say that he hasn’t “been too impacted by the trolling.” He also wrote this, “When you attack someone’s character, it’s not just them you’re attacking. It’s everyone who loves and care about them too. Know the full story before you do.” He later followed up by saying that knows “very little about this show” but “it seems very clear” that there are often villains. “May you find a way to treat the situations and people you don’t like with grace,” he said. “Remember, it’s not for them. It’s for you.” Got more questions about Jamie? Fair. Here’s what you need to know.
