In late January, Malku caught COVID-19 and required hospitalization. But she’s a proven fighter and beat the virus, though it’s been a bumpy road to recovery. Immediately after being released from the hospital, Malku called her youngest sister Leah to complain that she missed an episode of her favorite show (Matt James’ season of The Bachelor) while in the hospital. To make matters worse, due to excessive snow in the area, her TV reception was down and she’d probably miss another episode. Her sister wanted to do something to cheer Malku up, so she reached out to the RWR Network, a nonprofit organization working with vulnerable individuals including Holocaust survivors. Their original idea was to send Malku a bouquet of red roses with a cute note that read, “Will you accept these roses?” but the idea snowballed into something bigger and better. One of the founders of RWRN put out a call to her extended network and social media networks. One of those requests made its way to the production team at ABC. In a whirlwind turn of events, the crew of The Bachelor happened to be shooting a “Women Tell All” segment and showrunner Bennett Graebner put this adorable message together, and Chris Harrison filmed a video just for Malku. Watch the video below, and try not to cry. So, within a few hours, Malku was healing at home when her two daughters showed her the personalized message from The Bachelor set. We’re told Malku couldn’t stop giggling and watched the video repeatedly. She’ll be watching the new episode tonight, of course. Sources at ABC revealed exclusively to Parade.com, “Chris was so beyond honored and touched to do it and said ‘I love this job’ after he recorded it.” The folks at ABC have also hinted that they might invite Malku to Zoom with them before the season finale.
