How did Top Chef handle filming during the coronavirus?

As Top Chef season 19 was still filming during the pandemic, the show continued to utilize the protocols it put into place starting with last season. Everyone, including the judges, quarantined themselves in a “bubble” for the duration of filming. Additionally, the production crew’s various departments were broken up into separate zones that worked at different times. The judges were not allowed to share plates of food; tasting spoons had to be discarded after every taste; and contestants were each given their own individual spice containers, instead of sharing them. Other production changes included curbside pickup at Whole Foods Market instead of in-store shopping; the exclusion of challenges involving large dinners, tasting events, and crowds; as well as a bigger kitchen set and judges’ table to allow for more social distancing.

Is Last Chance Kitchen back for Top Chef season 19?

Who won Top Chef season 18 Portland?

Season 18 of Top Chef produced some of the best dishes ever seen on the show. At the top of it all was Gabe Erales, who ended up taking home the win over Shota Nakajima and Dawn Burrell, the former of whom won fan favorite. However, the day before the finale, a firestorm of news hit about Erales being fired from his executive chef position for inappropriate conduct with a coworker.
