Today’s Wordle Answer #250: Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022
On a morning when most of us woke up to the news of a second Cold War (and potentially worse), Wordle was a welcome distraction today. We tested out “MOVIE” for our Wordle starting word, making use of the V that eluded so many players for this week’s previous puzzle with the solution “TROVE.” It also boasts three vowels in O, I and E. Knowing our E was in the right place and that O was in play, we got off to a decent start. We tried out “SHONE” next, eliminating S, H, N and E, and getting our O in its proper spot. From there, it was pretty much a true guessing game. We tested “FROZE,” knowing that while Z likely wouldn’t be used, it’d at least narrow it down by eliminating Z, F and R. From there, our consonant combinations were a bit limited. “GLOBE” was our next attempt. While it wasn’t the Wordle solution, it did let us know B was in the puzzle, but in the wrong place. Shoving B to the front, we were very limited in the number of English-language words we could actually create. Anglophiles will rejoice: “BLOKE” was the solution today! It likely wasn’t the first choice for most players on this side of the pond—unless, of course, you’ve used a restroom at Outback Steakhouse. In that case, power to you! Treat yourself to a Bloomin’ Onion today. You’ve earned it—and goodness knows we can all use some comfort food right now.
