The 67-year-old Irish-born actor recently dropped into the Saturday Night Live studios and showed off his ability to glide through the set on his skateboard in a sketch share on YouTube earlier. The video began with a brief introduction from the actor. “I’m Brendan Gleeson, most people know me as an actor, but the real me,” he said, “is a skater.” As the clip continued, Gleeson surfed through the set of SNL like a pro, even shoving papers out of a bystander’s hand along the way. “Oh we were shreddin’ it,” he recalled, before security (played by SNL newcomer Molly Kearney) scolded Gleeson for carving up the set. “Stop it with the kick flips!” Kearney exclaimed as they chased Gleeson across the set. Later, the two could be seen wrestling for Gleeson’s board. The former Harry Potter star also made sure to spray paint the ’no’ out of a ’no skateboarding’ and complain about “posers.” Which, given Gleeson’s skills and confidence level, pseudo wannabe skaters are something he probably knows a thing or two about. Viewers were treated to snippets of the actor grinding across the studio, landing kick flips, ollies, handstands, and more before security ultimately booted him for treating the studio like his personal skatepark. The sketch has earned monumental acclaim from fans for its spot-on humor. “i need whoever wrote this skit to be promoted. as someone who’s skated for 20 years, every joke in this absolutely hits. more than even people who dont skate would know. the ‘Handshake’, the fisheye, the thrasher reference? incredible,” one YouTuber exclaimed. “Sick promo. Didnt know he could be so funny, im used to watching him play serious roles,” another fan admitted.
