Seven-year-old George wrote, “Dear Granny Diana, Happy happy Mother’s Day. I love you very much and think of you always, sending lots of love from George.” On the front of the card he used crayons to draw a colorful scene of hills, a tree, birds and what appear to be cacti in the sunshine. Charlotte, 5, wrote, “Dear Granny Diana, I am thinking of you on Mother’s Day. I love you very much Papa is missing you. Lots of love Charlotte.” Her message was accompanied by a rainbow heart done in marker pen. Two-year-old Louis’ card bore a heart shape swirled in paint and covered in stickers featuring woodland creatures. It said, simply, ‘From Louis.’ The pictures were accompanied by a caption that said, “This year Mother’s Day will be different once again. Many of us will be apart from our loved ones, but looking forward to a time in the not too distant future when we can give our mother a hug again. “But for those experiencing bereavement, today may be particularly challenging. Each year on Mother’s Day, George, Charlotte and Louis make cards remembering their Granny, Diana, for William. Whatever your circumstances, we are thinking of you this Mother’s Day.” The Cambridge kids are known for getting crafty—last April, the palace released adorable snaps of Louis with his palms covered in rainbow paint to mark his second birthday. And in November, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were pictured opening a decorated card made for them by George, Charlotte and Louis to congratulate their great-grandparents on 73 years of marriage. Despite an increasingly tense situation continuing to develop in the wake ofPrince HarryandMeghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey last week, Harry and William are set to reunite later this year on what would have been Diana’s 60th birthday (July 1.) The occasion will be marked by the unveiling of a new statue of the late Princess of Wales in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace. The Sunken Garden was one of Diana’s favorite places, and is also where Harry and Meghan posed for their engagement photocall only three months after the spot was transformed into a memorial garden dedicated to the princes’ mother.
