Despite never thinking she would make her way back to the entertainment industry after exiting Suits back in 2018, the former actress, 41, launched Archwell Productions with Harry, 38, to create inspiring and informative content—but it doesn’t all have to be so serious, Markle says. In a new interview with Variety, Markle hinted at her hopes for upcoming scripted projects, including a potential romantic comedy flick. “It doesn’t always have to be so serious,” she said of the pair’s production projects. “Like a good rom-com. Don’t we miss them? I miss them so much. I’ve probably watched When Harry Met Sally a million times. And all the Julia Roberts rom-coms. We need to see those again.” According to Markle, she and Harry are inspired by their own love story when it comes to future content. “I think that’s what people around the world connected to, especially with our wedding,” she continued. “People love love. I’m not excluded in that sentiment. And our definition of love is really expansive: partner love, self love, the love of community and family. We use that as the baseline of the kind of shows and documentaries we want out there.” Unfortunately for fans of the royal couple, we most likely won’t see Markle returning to her acting days in any of the upcoming scripted projects, as she also told Variety she has no plans to return to the screen again. “I’m done,” she said of returning to acting. “I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not.” Meanwhile, Archewell Productions—which has already signed a multi-year deal with Netflix—will be producing the docu-series of the couple’s life, expected to premiere sometime in 2023.
