Meghan was pictured curtsying to the coffin while her husband bowed his head. The new Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, also paid their respects by bowing and curtsying respectively to the coffin. Both Meghan and Kate wore black coats, black hats and small veils. The pearl earrings that Meghan wore were a gift from the queen. Meanwhile Princess Kate wore the queen’s diamond and pearl leaf brooch that belonged to the monarch, and pearl earrings that belonged to Princess Diana. When the queen’s coffin left Buckingham Palace today it was followed to the Palace of Westminster by King Charles III, William, Harry, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. Kate and Meghan arrived in separate cars. Last night, the queen’s coffin made for an eerie sight in a glass hearse lit from within as it glided through the dark and rainy streets of London toward Buckingham Palace. It was privately received by the royal family at the queen’s former home, but a photographer captured a moment in which Meghan and Harry stood on the stairs behind the new king. The late monarch will lie in state for four days until her funeral on Monday.
