On Saturday, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck tied the knot after rekindling their 20-years-in-the-making relationship, and they both pulled out nostalgic selections from their personal closets for the intimate Las Vegas ceremony. The singer’s first of two dresses for the surprise wedding—which she shared the details of in her On the JLo newsletter on Sunday—was her something “old,” a piece near and dear to her heart as it was taken straight from her own closet. “I’ve had this dress for so many years, and I’ve just been saving it, saving it, saving it, and now I’m wearing it on my wedding day,” Lopez revealed as she showed off the classic, white design in a heartfelt clip shared in the newsletter announcing the couple’s big news. Her hairstylist Chris Appleton also posted the snippet on his Instagram, captioning the post, “Last minute feelings before the wedding.” But to exchange “I Dos,” she changed into a more luxurious option for the romantic occasion at the iconic Little White Wedding Chapel, which she thanked “for letting me use the break room to change while Ben changed in the men’s room.” Jennifer’s dress-of-the-hour was a stunning long-sleeve white lace high-fashion bridal gown. The off-the-shoulder Zuhair Murad design featured a corset bodice, sweetheart neckline and fishtail train. The Maid in Manhattan actress also famously wore a Zuhair Murad Bridal Couture gown in her recent rom-com Marry Me and has frequented the designer’s looks for red carpet appearances in the past. In photos showcased in the newsletter, the 52-year-old appeared in bridal bliss, rocking soft, bouncy curls paired with her signature bronzy glow, soft smoky eye and a peachy-nude lip for the day’s glam. Affleck donned a white tuxedo jacket from his closet. Lopez penned a note in the newsletter on the surprisingly simplistic ceremony. “So with the best witnesses you could ever imagine, a dress from an old movie and a jacket from Ben’s closet, we read our own vows in the little chapel and gave one another the rings we’ll wear for the rest of our lives,” she said, adding, “They even had Bluetooth for a (short) march down the aisle. But in the end it was the best possible wedding we could have imagined. One we dreamed of long ago and one made real (in the eyes of the state, Las Vegas, a pink convertible and one another) at very, very long last.” She also mentioned the couple giving love a second chance, writing, “We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient,” adding that it was the “best night of our lives.” According to court documents, the bride wasted no time taking on her new groom’s last name as she is now legally Jennifer Affleck. Following the wedding, Lopez posted a fresh-faced snapshot from bed on Instagram, with her wedding band on full display. “Sadie! #iykyk Go to OnTheJLo for all the deets,” she captioned the photo, referencing Funny Girl’s “Sadie, Sadie” lyrics, which mentions being a “married lady.” The couple first began dating in July 2002 and got engaged in November of that year. They later postponed their September 2003 nuptials just days before the planned ceremony, ultimately going their separate ways. In 2021, Lopez and Affleck rekindled their relationship, after the “Let’s Get Loud” songstress split from baseball star, A-Rod. “We’re older now, we’re smarter, we have more experience, we’re at different places in our lives, we have kids now, and we have to be very conscious of those things,” Lopez told PEOPLE earlier this year about the couple’s reunion. “It’s a beautiful outcome that this has happened in this way at this time in our lives where we can really appreciate and celebrate each other and respect each other.” Next, Jennifer Lopez Details Ben Affleck’s Sweet Proposal—Find Out Exactly How He Popped the Question!
