While chatting with Extra! at the Palm Springs International Film Festival screening for her upcoming movie, 80 For Brady, the 85-year-old actress revealed that she was in remission. “Great! I stopped chemo and I feel great,” she enthusiastically noted. She said that her experience was an “adventure,” adding, “I got a chance to experience what hundreds of millions of other people in the world have experienced. It wasn’t the first time I had cancer. And I got lucky. I had really, really good care. I’m lucky. I’m blessed.” The star revealed that she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in Sept. 2022. Fonda previously announced her remission, along with the oncologist’s orders to “discontinue” chemo in a December blog post titled, “BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER!!!.” “I am feeling so blessed, so fortunate. I thank all of you who prayed and sent good thoughts my way. I am confident that it played a role in the good news,” she wrote. She continued: “I’m especially happy because while my first 4 chemo treatments were rather easy for me, only a few days of being tired, the last chemo session was rough and lasted 2 weeks making it hard to accomplish much of anything.” Fonda has been promoting her upcoming comedy starring Lily Tomlin, Sally Field, and Rita Moreno about a group of best friends and New England Patriots fans that embark on a journey to see their hero, Tom Brady, play in Super Bowl LI in 2017. During their hilarious endeavor to secure tickets to the game, they end up running into Billy Porter, Guy Fieri, and former Patriots tight end, Rob Gronkowski. The actress recalled meeting Brady for the first time, noting that when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback came to introduce himself on set, she felt “completely starstruck” by the seven-time Super Bowl winner. “He was kind and humble, which is hard to believe considering how brilliant he is at what he does, but it’s true. He was also sweet and polite,” she said, per The Hollywood Reporter. 80 For Brady will hit theaters on January 28, 2023.
