This is the first time the pair has worked together since the steamy series ended in 2012 and the first on-screen reunion of any of the cast members from Wisteria Lane. Denton, who also serves as a producer on the film, first mentioned the movie back in August 2020 on Hallmark Channel’s Bubbly Sesh Podcast. Fans assumed the new movie would be on the network’s Countdown to Christmas lineup last year, but that didn’t happen. On the podcast, he said of the new movie, “It’s a little bit like It’s A Wonderful Life.. a little bit like Heaven Can Wait.” Sounds dreamy! “Since that famous scene where he found me in the bushes, I knew James and I would be friends for life,” Hatcher said. “The chemistry and friendship we had on Desperate Housewives is alive and well all these years later, and the loving, warm spirit of the holidays is the perfect backdrop for reuniting. It’s amazing to be back together. It’s just like old times. You won’t want to miss it.”
What is A Kiss Before Christmas about?
In A Kiss Before Christmas, Denton plays Ethan Holt, a married father of two who is disappointed to learn he’s not getting the promotion he was up for. Lamenting that his “nice guy” approach to business has held him back in his career, he wishes his life had taken a different course. Sprinkle in some Christmas magic and his wish becomes a reality. Waking up the next morning, Ethan is shocked to find everything has changed, he isn’t married to Joyce (Hatcher), his kids don’t exist and he’s CEO of his company. Joyce is the key to Ethan reclaiming the life he knew and the family he loves but he must convince her that they have a future—and a past—together. “From the very beginning I wanted the first Hallmark Christmas movie I produced to be unique,” Denton said. “I had no idea that we’d be lucky enough to get Teri. We’ve always wanted to work together again, and we found the perfect vehicle for what I think is the first Desperate Housewives reunion.
