When does the Frasier reboot premiere?
It’s in its early days, so there’s no target date yet for its launch, but we expect to see the series in 2023. Grammer said rehearsals begin in February 2023 so we’re still a while away from a premiere date.
What will the Frasier reboot be about?
Frasier will continue the life journey of TV’s most popular fictional radio psychiatrist. When Frasier returns, we have been promised that “he’s more exactly the same than ever.” We expect to see Frasier moving to an entirely new city, similarly to how the Cheers-spinoff began. “He’s our brave little soldier that continues on in life, finding new challenges and a new love and new people and a new city and stuff like that,” Grammer told People. “I’m really very excited about it, and we’ll certainly always honor the past. We have to honor the fact that John Mahoney died and that Martin is no longer with us. We’ll be dealing with that for sure.”
Who is in the Frasier reboot cast?
Frasier is going to be awfully lonely in the reboot. Kelsey Grammer is the only returning cast member from the original series.
Will David Hyde Pierce return to Frasier as Niles?
Unfortunately not. We just learned that David Hyde Pierce will not be joining Grammer in the Frasier reboot. “David basically decided he wasn’t really interested in repeating the performance of Niles,” Grammer told People. In the series finale Niles remained in Seattle while Frasier quit his radio job and went to Chicago in an attempt to reconnect with girlfriend Charlotte (Laura Linney). “In a very funny way, it just took us to a new place, which was what we originally wanted to do anyway, which was a Frasier third act,” Grammer said. “It’s an entirely new life for him.” But Frasier fans aren’t having any of it! For them, there is no Frasier without Niles!
Will any of the other original Frasier cast members return?
John Mahoney (Martin Crane)
Sadly, John Mahoney died at age 77 February 4, 2018, so, obviously, he will not take part in the reboot.
Jane Leeves (Daphne Moon)
As Niles’ wife, Daphne would only need to be a part of the show if her hubby came back, because her job as a live-in caretaker for Martin came to an end. Plus, Jane Leeves is currently starring as Dr. Kit Voss on FOX’s The Resident.
Peri Gilpin (Roz Doyle)
Of all the characters, Roz is a possibility since we have no clue as to the story. With her promotion to station manager in the series finale, we can see where Roz would be in a position to give Frasier a job if he needed one in the new series.
Why is Frasier being rebooted?
Dr. Frasier Crane holds a special place in TV history as a character that has appeared on three different television series: Cheers, Wings and Frasier, tying the record for longest-running television character. “Frasier is one of the most acclaimed comedies in modern television history and truly defines premium storytelling,” said David Stapf, president of CBS Studios. “There has long been a call from fans for its return, and that call is now answered thanks to the amazing Kelsey Grammer reprising his iconic role of Dr. Frasier Crane and a brilliant creative plan from [executive producers] Joe Cristalli, Chris Harris and Kelsey. What do fans think of the return of Frasier?
Some fans are excited. But there has been a noticeable amount of confusion as to why there’s a need to bring this one back. Most importantly, they feel, as mentioned, the show cannot go on without Niles. Some are sharing their ideas for the reboot. Others are just confused about how old Frasier is at this point.
How did the original Frasier end?
The series finale brought several storylines to their conclusion. Daphne and Miles married and had a baby, Martin and Ronee also wed, Roz was promoted to station manager at KACL, and Frasier decided to take a new job offer at a TV station in San Francisco. But then in a twist, we saw him get off the plane in Chicago, where his girlfriend Charlotte had moved.
