Duchess Kate was forced to miss some of this week’s matches after finding out she was a close contact of a COVID case.But having presumably gotten the all-clear, she attended matches on both Saturday and Sunday, for which she wore a series of new outfits. The pink dress, which Kate wore to the men’s wheelchair singles final and the men’s singles finals, is by Beulah. Made entirely of wool crepe, it features cap sleeves and a row of tiny delicate buttons down the front. Kate also carried her vintage Art Deco floral purse, which according to Vogue is “embellished with hundreds of minute ivory beads and delicate Point de Beauvais embroidery.” We were surprised to read that Kate has been seen with this clutch on multiple occasions in the last few years, including the 2019 Wimbledon finals. Fashion-wise, it’s safe to say that vintage isn’t really her thing (unless it’s an item from Queen Elizabeth II’s collection of diamonds). One of the only times we can recall the Duchess of Cambridge wearing vintage is when she wore a 1980s dress (also pink! and ruffled, and spotted) by Oscar de la Renta during last year’s visit to Ireland. Yesterday Kate wore a bright green $1525 dress by Emilia Wickstead to the women’s singles final, at which she was joined byPrince Williamin the royal box. In Kate’s role as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, she later stepped onto the pitch to present the trophy to Ashleigh Barty of Australia. With her green dress and white shoes she kind of looked like…. a tennis court! Again, we turn to fashion bible Vogue, who say this was in fact the intent. The green of her dress was apparently an homage to “Wimbledon’s status as the only Grand Slam tournament played on grass courts.” Kate isn’t the only member of her family who loves tennis—she was accompanied by her father Michael Middleton to today’s event, but earlier this week she missed out on a Middleton day out at the tournament. Her parents Carole and Michael were seated in the royal box, while her sister Pippa Middleton and her husband James Matthews watched from the public seats. Pippa, who gave birth to her daughter Grace in March, wore a cute gingham dress for the occasion.
